Peer Assisted Learning Leader
During the first semester in the second year, or after you come back from placement, you can work as a Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Leader. These positions are usually emailed to all students - so remember to keep an eye on your emails!
Second Year PAL Leader
As a PAL Leader, you act as peer support for student in the first year on the same course. The role of a PAL Leader involves helping students too:
-
Adjust quickly to university life
-
Acquire a clear view of course direction and expectations
-
Develop their independent learning and study skills to meet the requirements of higher education
-
Enhance their understanding of the subject matter of their course through collaborative group discussion
-
Prepare better for assessed work and exams.
Placement PAL Leader
This role is also known as Employability PAL and has the aim of giving each student the opportunity to do a placement as part of their course. This role gives students the opportunity to use their own experiences and knowledge of placements to help other students successfully secure their own. This is also a part of the employability lectures given in the second year.
