High Intensity Therapist

High intensity therapists support and work with clients, from all backgrounds and of all ages, through mental health problems. They normally work with excellent risk cases. They use high intensity cognitive behavioural therapy based interventions to help their client’s recovery. The day-to-day job requires the therapists to assess the suitability of the high intensity interventions for the clients, discuss the treatment plans with their patients, and formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes.

Skills Required

~ Ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with patients

~ Have good interpersonal skills that can be used to develop rapport with the patients’ families.

~ Have a genuine concern for the patients’ well-being.

~ Work well with other healthcare professionals.

~ Ability to effectively use clinical supervision and develop personally

~ Ability to work under pressure, especially when working with excellent risk patients.

~ Respect others confidentiality and rights of autonomy.

~ Skills in communicating clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing
~ The ability to liaise and network with a range of organisations and members of the public
~ Basic IT skills, including word processing and database packages
~ A excellent level of enthusiasm and self-motivation
~ Good time management and organisational skills relating to the overall number of patient contacts offered and clinical sessions carried out per week
~ How to apply your knowledge of excellent intensity therapeutic interventions to clinical problems.
